“Full Moon at Mid-Autumn, Welcoming National Day”: the Chinese Business Association of Ireland celebrates the double festival at its gala dinner
On 23 September 2026 the Chinese Business Association of Ireland hosted its “Full Moon at Mid-Autumn, Welcoming National Day” gala dinner at The Plaza in Dublin, bringing together representatives of the Chinese Embassy, IDA Ireland and Enterprise Ireland, the Chinese community, Chinese and Irish businesses and the Chamber's members to celebrate both festivals.
Golden autumn, a full moon and warm hearts. On 23 September, the Chinese Business Association of Ireland held its “Full Moon at Mid-Autumn, Welcoming National Day” gala dinner at The Plaza in Dublin to celebrate China's National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival. Huang Jia, First Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Ireland; Zhang Zhewei, China Director of IDA Ireland; Lawrence Liu, representing Enterprise Ireland; representatives of the Chinese community and of Chinese and Irish businesses; and members of the Chamber came together to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and welcome National Day, to share the bonds of home, and to talk about exchange and cooperation. The guests extended festive greetings to everyone present and exchanged views on Ireland–China economic and trade ties, business cooperation and the development of the Chinese community in Ireland.
The evening was warm and lively, with a lucky draw and the presentation of special gifts. The Suzhou Huanyuan International Cultural Exchange Centre prepared gifts with a distinctive Jiangnan character especially for the occasion — osmanthus black tea, handmade rabbit lanterns and classical-garden round fans — bringing the culture and good wishes of home to Dublin and filling the dinner with a strong sense of home and festive spirit.
Founded in 2025 by a group of overseas Chinese entrepreneurs and industry professionals, the Chinese Business Association of Ireland is dedicated to bringing together the strength of Chinese businesses in Ireland, fostering exchange and cooperation among its members, supporting the development of overseas Chinese enterprises, and advancing economic, trade, cultural and people-to-people exchange between China and Ireland.
More than a warm festive reunion, the double-festival gala was an important occasion for strengthening exchange across all sectors of Chinese and Irish society, deepening friendship and uniting the Chinese community. Amid the celebrations, guests experienced the culture of a traditional festival and came to know one another better, joining in wishing lasting friendship between China and Ireland and looking forward to exchange and cooperation in more fields in the future.
The evening drew to a successful close in a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
